Starting a meditation practice doesn't have to be complicated. In fact, the simplest approaches are often the most effective for beginners. The key is to start small and build gradually, creating a sustainable habit that serves your well-being. Begin with just five minutes a day. Find a comfortable seated position, close your eyes, and focus on your breath. Notice the sensation of air flowing in and out. When your mind wanders — and it will — gently bring your attention back to your breath without judgment. This simple practice builds the foundation for deeper meditation. Many of my clients started exactly this way before exploring sound-assisted meditation in my sessions.

As your practice develops, you can explore different techniques: guided meditations, body scans, loving-kindness meditation, or sound-assisted meditation using crystal singing bowls and tuning forks. NCCIH notes that meditation and mindfulness may help some people with stress, anxiety, sleep, and emotional well-being, though benefits vary by practice and person.
