What to Expect at Your First Sound Bath in Chandler, AZ
By Victoria Enriquez · Certified Reiki Practitioner & Sound Healer

The most common question I get from first-time visitors is some version of "Do I need to know what I'm doing?" The answer is no. A sound bath is one of the few healing modalities where you literally have nothing to do but lie down and listen. But knowing what to expect can help your body relax even faster — and that's where the real benefit lives.
Here's exactly what happens during your first 45-minute Healing Sound Bath at MEditation TIME in Chandler, Arizona.
Before You Arrive
Wear something soft and loose. You're going to be lying down for 45 minutes, so anything you'd wear on a long flight will work — leggings, sweats, a cozy sweater. Skip restrictive waistbands and heavy jewelry that can buzz against your skin when the vibrations move through the room.
Eat lightly beforehand. Sound waves travel through fluid, and a heavy stomach can make some clients feel a little disoriented when the vibrations begin. A small snack one to two hours before is ideal.
Hydrate. This one matters. Water carries vibration more efficiently than dehydrated tissue. The clients who arrive well-hydrated almost always report the most physical sensations during the session.
Mentally, you don't need to do anything. No special breathing technique, no intention setting, no meditation experience required. You'll be guided as needed.
What Happens in the First Few Minutes
When you arrive, we'll spend a few minutes talking through anything you'd like me to focus on. Trouble sleeping? Anxiety? A specific area of your body that's been holding tension? I'll ask, but only as much as you want to share. Some clients come in wanting to talk; others just want to lie down. Both are perfectly fine.
You'll lie on a comfortable mat with bolsters under your knees and a blanket if you want one. The lights stay low. Your first visit also includes a complimentary 15-minute tuning fork chakra session as a gentle introduction to vibrational healing before we move into the bowls.
During the Session
The crystal singing bowls take over. I move around the room playing different bowls tuned to specific frequencies — each one corresponds to one of your body's energy centers. You don't need to track any of this. Your nervous system does the work without your involvement.
Most first-timers experience some combination of these sensations: a tingling that moves through the arms or legs, warmth in the chest or stomach, a floating feeling like the body is bigger than its outline, unexpected emotion (some clients tear up; others laugh), and a drop into something that feels like the edge of sleep but more aware.
If your mind wanders, that's fine. If you fall asleep, also fine. Some of the deepest healing happens when the conscious mind steps out of the way entirely.
After the Bath: What You Might Feel
When the last bowl fades, I'll guide you back gently. Don't rush to sit up. Most clients want a few extra minutes just to land back in their body.
In the hours that follow, expect any of these: surprisingly deep sleep that night, a sense that something heavy got lighter, mild emotional release the next day (this is normal), vivid dreams, or a feeling of mental clarity that wasn't there before.
One client told me her driving anxiety, which she'd carried for years, was completely gone after a single session. Another said her shoulders "remembered how to drop." Everyone's experience is different, but almost no one walks out feeling the same as when they walked in.
